JuSPARC - Probing the solid state at ultrafast timescales
Processes involving electrons and spins often take place on sub-picosecond timescales. This is particularly true for electronic phase transitions, ultrafast demagnetization, or local redox processes during resistive switching. The rapid development in femtosecond laser sources enables new experimental avenues which open the access to the electronic, spin, and lattice response on such ultrashort timescales. With JuSPARC we plan to establish a unique experimental environment to explore ultrafast processes in condensed matter by means of spectroscopy, microscopy and scattering techniques.
