The nickel age of high-temperature superconductivity

Harrison LaBollita

Discovering and designing new superconducting materials remains a central challenge in condensed matter physics and materials science. In this talk, I will introduce two new families of nickel-based (nickelates) superconductors that provide a promising platform for investigating high-temperature superconductivity. Using ab-initio based methods, I will compare and contrast the electronic structure of these compounds and identify robust descriptors that pinpoint the key degrees of freedom relevant for their superconductivity.
