Quantum simulation by quantum annealing

The field of quantum annealing is undergoing a rapid development in terms of its application to quantum simulations. In this talk, I will first give an overview of quantum annealing with some emphasis on real-world applications. I then describe our recent work on coherent quantum simulation to experimentally test the Kibble-Zurek mechanism for the 1d transverse-field Ising model [1]. [1] A.
